It was a brilliant performance from the team.
We started the game quickly and took control of Notts County, particularly when they were out of possession. In terms of limiting their options, we were excellent. They posed some tactical challenges and made adjustments, but I thought we adapted well on the pitch and responded effectively.
Our transitions were very dangerous, and we capitalised on our physical presence, especially from set pieces, which allowed us to effectively secure the game by half-time. This is something we need to continue doing consistently as a team.
In the second half, I was pleased with how well we defended. Notts County made a tactical tweak, with their right-sided centre-back rotating into midfield and drifting into wider areas, which created some pressure. They scored a great goal from outside the box with about 10-15 minutes left, which got them back into the game.
However, our game management in the closing stages was excellent. We ran the clock down and earned a well-deserved win against a very energetic and technically strong Notts County side, full of promising players for their future.
Next, we turn our attention to Heanor Town in the FA Vase on Saturday. This will present a different kind of challenge, but one we are capable of facing and competing with.
A huge thank you to all the spectators who attended the game. I hope you were entertained, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Ron Steel Sports Ground for our next home fixture on Saturday, September 28th, against Selston.
