A fantastic second half performance led us to a 4-1 victory and 3 big points on the road

After narrowly losing 3-2 last time we visited Radford last month in the cup we felt like today we owed them one and that’s exactly what we did.

Today we knew it was going to be a tough fixture away against a side that we know will always put up an old-school in-your-face battle.

After narrowly losing 3-2 last time we visited Radford last month in the cup we felt like today we owed them one and that’s exactly what we did.

The first half started with great intensity for both sides going at it in a good old-fashioned way of non-league. We started very well and got more of control on the game than our opposition. However, a well-taken free kick from the opposition on the edge of our box saw us go 1-0 down early on. We had to bounce back and we did exactly that with a great set-piece delivery found our new debutant Ash Buttery chest the ball down across the keeper for Max Taylor to tap the ball in for an equaliser.

We went into half time at 1-1 feeling very confident after a solid 1st half-performance still in the game with it all to play for. Us as a management team gave instructions to the lads at halftime to now go out in the second half, show character, not concede and finish our chances to bring home 3 points.

The second half started off very shaky for us as the opposition came out as expected and piled on the pressure but huge credit to our back 4 who stood strong and denied any opportunity of a goal. A ball into the box from the opposition then saw them head into our net but the goal was rightfully ruled offside. A wake-up call for us most definitely.

We then started to take control of the game and move the ball around into key areas of the pitch putting the home team under real pressure. Then on the 65th minute, a goalmouth scramble ended with Jack Harrison finding his header hit the back of the net to take us 2-1 up.

We continued to dominate the game in all areas of the pitch. Going into the last 10 minutes of the 90, captain Lewis Wilcox found himself on the edge of the opposition box with a fantastic striker low into the bottom corner of the goal to see us go 3-1 up. Shortly after that a fantastic cross ball from Daniel found Beno who cool and calmly dinked it over their keeper to see the end result finish 4-1.

Special shout-outs today to our new addition Ash Buttery who had a solid debut at right back. Jack Harrison who I thought was superb in the middle of the park today. Man of the match though goes to our skipper Lewis who was outstanding from start to finish and getting himself on the score sheet so well done Lewis!

3 games unbeaten now the consistency is starting to creep in so we go into next week's away fixture full of confidence!

Up the boatmen!
